Who we are
The name "Dusty Rhodes" holds special significance for us. Both of our mothers have been incredible role models, and we wanted to honor them through our property. Sadly, one of our mothers has passed away, while the other lives abroad. We wanted to create a lasting tribute to them and feel their presence here with us.
Our vision for the property is to provide a sanctuary of healing and relaxation for all who visit. We named it "Annie's Sanctuary" in memory of our late mother. Additionally, we plan to raise many goat kids, playfully referred to as "grandgoatbabies," for our other mother, Denise, whose family name is Rhodes. She was once nicknamed "Dusty Rhodes." Our off-grid property is located on a rural, dusty road, the name seemed a perfect fit.
Our adventure into raising miniature goats began unexpectedly, driven by a personal need during a challenging time. It was not about the appeal of cute animals, land management, or profit. We transitioned from a fast-paced city life to a rural setting due to health concerns, seeking rehabilitation and a new understanding of happiness and purpose. This change saved a life and prompted reflection on our values.
We prioritise the well-being of our goats, considering them family. Our core beliefs encompass community, animal welfare, biosecurity, sustainability, and ethical treatment of animals. We strive to use eco-friendly and sustainable products whenever possible.
We're passionate about raising miniature goats, ensuring love, care, and thoughtful consideration in breeding for strong genetics and affectionate temperaments. Each goat in our Dusty Rhodes family has been carefully selected with guidance from respected breeders, focusing on international standards and alignment with Association guidelines where applicable.
We believe ethical breeding extends beyond producing healthy miniatures with desirable traits. It includes our commitment to providing ongoing knowledge and support to buyers and the community. We're grateful to the miniature goat community for shaping our beliefs and practices through their trust and guidance.
Please note that our stud is registered with both the Miniature Goats Australia and the National Pygmy Goats Association of Australia. All of our goats are also registered with these associations.
